HYBRID FILMMAKING
SHOOT REAL EXPAND THE POSSIBILITIES
The Tequila Mandala commercial began as a traditional live action production, filmed on a real location with real actors, real sets and the actual product. AI was then used as a creative extension of that photography, building from the material already captured rather than replacing it. Existing locations, performances, wardrobe, lighting and production design could be carried into new shots, alternate angles, unexpected camera moves and scroll stopping transitions that would have been difficult, costly or impossible to capture during the original shoot. The result is a hybrid approach that preserves the visual language established by the director and cinematographer while opening an entirely new layer of creative possibility in post. This is where the idea of an AI Unit becomes especially powerful. In the same way a production may add a second unit to expand coverage, directors, agencies and production companies can begin thinking about a dedicated AI Unit as another creative resource available to the director and agency creative team. It can explore additional coverage, solve editorial problems, extend locations, create connective imagery and push sequences further after principal photography is complete. Used this way, AI does not replace traditional production. It gives filmmakers more ways to protect, expand and elevate what they have already created.
